Vacant day nursery in north London set to reopen following leasehold sale
The expanding Canopy Nurseries group, which has six early years settings in its portfolio, has agreed to take over the leasehold of a vacant day nursery property in north London.
The property comprises three floors and a sizable outdoor space which can cater for up to 95 children.
It is located on a prominent corner in the affluent and densely-populated north London area of Bounds Green, just a few minutes walk from both Alexandra Palace and Wood Green stations.
Following a confidential sales process with David Eaves at Christie & Co, the lease has been sold to Shella and Shane Popat, who will reopen the nursery as franchisees under the Canopy Nurseries brand, which has six settings plans to acquire more in the near future.
The new tenants said: “We are delighted to be opening our first Canopy nursery in such a beautiful location.
“The building has been thoughtfully designed to offer age-appropriate spaces inside and many outdoor opportunities in the extensive outdoor gardens.
“With a separate baby garden, sensory room, home economics space and community room, we are truly opening the nursery of our dreams.”
David Eaves, director of childcare and education at Christie & Co, who oversaw the sale, added: “Seeing a vacant property being brought back to life is always positive, and this is continuation of a trend we saw last year, where nursery owners or new market entrants see the current demand in the market driven by funding changes and parental need, and are looking to capitalise on that by creating additional capacity to serve the requirements of local parents.”
The lease was sold for an undisclosed price.
