Monifieth Learning Campus welcomes its first students
Students have begun their first day at the new Monifieth High School following completion of a £66.5m construction project.
Work began on the new school in May 2023, with Robertson Construction Tayside building the facility.
Councillor Heather Doran, convener of family, education and justice at Angus Council, said: “I am thrilled to see the new school open its doors and welcome young people as they begin the 2025 school term.
“Monifieth High School has high aspirations for all its young people, and this modern, inspiring building provides the perfect environment to support them in achieving their goals.”
Robertson Group chief executive, Elliot Robertson, added: “The first day back at school is always an exciting day, but the first day back to a new school that has been designed and built with incredible sustainable features and to the highest quality, is even more special.
“We hope that the pupils enjoy the new learning environment, and we look forward to continuing our close working relationship with the council and the school as we deliver the second phase of works, which will see the addition of even more facilities and amenities.”
Following the completion of the new building (Phase 1), the council will decommission the old Monifieth High School building before handing over to Robertson Construction Tayside to allow Phase 2 works to commence.
Phase 2 includes the demolition of the building, the construction of a bus drop-off area, a main pedestrian route to the school, a synthetic pitch, a grass pitch, and garden areas.
Phase 2 will take approximately 12 months to complete.
