A full list of schools in need of replacement has been published by Northern Ireland Education Minister, Paul Givan.

The Minister outlined the list – totalling 87 schools – in response to a written question from the independent Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), Alex Easton.

And it comes just weeks after Givan announced a capital investment plan for special education that will see three schools get new buildings – Ardnashee in Derry, which is set to get a second campus; Sperrinview in Dungannon; and Knockevin in Downpatrick.

In February, the minister also announced that new-build projects for seven schools across Northern Ireland will progress to planning: Carrickfergus Academy; Loreto College, Coleraine; Dromore High School; Edmund Rice College, Newtownabbey; Portadown College; Mercy College, Belfast; and Malone Integrated College, Belfast.

He has now provided a full list of all schools which require new-build facilities, revealing they are currently at various stages of the feasibility or design process.
