Playground equipment manufacturer awarded top sustainability accolade
Manufacturer, Community Playthings, has received a King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development, recognising its commitment to creating high-quality, environmentally-responsible products that support early childhood education.
Since 1961, Community Playthings has been designing and manufacturing wooden furniture and play equipment for nurseries and schools.
And its products, crafted in UK workshops from solid wood, are designed to inspire play, nurture child development, and deliver long-lasting value.
Sam Hochstetler, sustainability lead at Community Playthings, said. “We believe children deserve the very best start in life and that begins with safe, well-designed environments that are created with care for the natural world.
“Every piece of wood we handle comes from a tree harvested at maturity and replaced with seedlings to continue the cycle of nature.
“We feel fortunate to do work that helps both forests and children grow well.”
He added: “The King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development recognises this pro-active approach to environmental responsibility, embedding sustainability into every stage of product development.
“Receiving the award is a proud milestone for us and a powerful affirmation of our mission.
“As the company continues to grow, it remains steadfast in its commitment to creating environments where all children thrive.”
