Recently-closed private school estate goes up for sale
Sanderson Weatherall, acting on behalf of the Joint Administrators at FRP Advisory, has been instructed to offer for sale the freehold property of the recently-closed Queen Margaret’s School, located in Escrick, near York.
The prestigious private school property is set within approximately 39 acres of mature landscaped grounds and is situated adjacent to the Escrick Park Estate.
The site comprises a Grade II-listed former country house and a variety of ancillary buildings, including classroom and dormitory blocks.
The extensive sports facilities include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a sports hall/gymnasium, a floodlit astroturf pitch, as well as squash and tennis courts.
Neil Bestwick, partner in the asset advisory and recovery division at Sanderson Weatherall, said: “We are pleased to be supporting the FRP team with the disposal of this important piece of real estate.
“We are exploring the potential for a resurrected education-based use, but also expect to see expressions of interest for alternative uses, including residential, leisure, and care, for which the property would be suited, subject, of course, to planning and other consents.”
The school is for sale with an asking price of £5m.
