Shropshire school plans redevelopment

The new boarding residence will provide 60 ensuite bedrooms, along with a student common room and kitchen and staff accommodation

Concord College, in Acton Burnell, Shropshire, is planning to demolish two buildings on its site and replace them with improved dining and boarding blocks, the BBC has reported

Concord College is an independent co-educational international day and boarding school.

In its application the school said: “Although Concord College is a highly successful and prestigious school, some of its facilities such as the Dining Hall fail to reflect this”, adding that the proposed dining hub would “form the social heart of the campus”, providing a place for pupils to meet, chat and socialise.

The development is part of a masterplan announced by Concord College last year to replace a number of outdated buildings, and Shropshire Council, which earlier this year approved a boarding house and sports facilities, is considering the plans.
