Work commences on new Winchburgh school
Morrison Construction Building Central has started work on the new Hawkhill Primary School in Winchburgh, West Lothian.
A ceremony was held to mark the start on site of the £16m school, with the Morrison team joined by representatives from Hub South East and West Lothian Council.
The new school will provide additional capacity for the growing community around Winchburgh, where Morrison has already added Winchburgh Academy.
The project will create a 231-place, single-stream primary school alongside a new 42-place nursery facility, and will include sports facilities, external landscaping, and car parking.
David Ewing, managing director for Morrison Construction Building Central, said: “We are delighted to be underway with our partners at West Lothian Council, Hub South East, and Winchburgh Development Ltd to deliver another new school for the Winchburgh community.
“As a group, we have demonstrated a strong track record for creating high-quality educational facilities and we look forward to producing another great school for the staff and students of Hawkhill.”
Ian Bowd, Hub South East’s projects director, added: “We’re excited to be marking the start of work on site for this exciting new primary school for Winchburgh.
“This project further strengthens our successful partnership with West Lothian Council, having delivered a number of award-winning projects together and we’re proud to be entrusted with this latest investment in its education estate.
“As we progress the new Hawkhill Primary, we will ensure the delivery of an inspiring new learning space for pupils and staff, as well as the realisation of social value through a programme of community benefits during construction.”
